Dr David Lakkis, BDSc (Melb)
David graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2002, and has been working at Ocean Grove Dental Clinic since 2003. In 2008, David and his wife Tina took ownership of the practice, and have made it a priority to provide high quality treatment in a gentle manner. David has a particular interest in children’s dentistry, dental implants, cosmetic dentistry, and root canal treatment. Outside of dentistry, he spends most of his time chasing after his three young children, and enjoys going out to dinner with his wife.
Dr Tina Nguyen, BDSc (Melb)
Tina graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2002, and has worked in private practices around Geelong and Melbourne. She has been at Ocean Grove Dental Clinic since 2008. She splits her time between private practice dentistry, post-graduate clinical teaching at Melbourne University Dental School, child wrangling her wonderfully crazy kids, and trying to steal a few minutes to hit the swimming pool, gym and restaurants with her husband. She enjoys all facets of dentistry, and speaks Vietnamese and French.
Dr Julia Bickley BDS (Birm)
Julia graduated from the University of Birmingham in 2000. After running her own practice in the UK for a number of years, she relocated to live in Ocean Grove in 2008 with her husband and daughter. Julia has worked in the Geelong region since 2009 and enjoys all aspects of General Dentistry. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, gardening, reading and walking her Great Dane ‘Treacle’.
Dr Melissa Chew, BDSc (Melb)
Melissa graduated from The University of Melbourne in 2009, and has worked in private practices across rural Victoria (Wangaratta) and Melbourne (Mitcham and Greensborough). New opportunities in 2019 prompted her relocation to Barwon Heads, together with her husband, young son and her Bichon Frise.
Melissa enjoys all aspects of family dentistry, with a preventive and gentle approach to dental treatment. She is fluent in Mandarin. Melissa feels very fortunate to live and work amongst this wonderful community, and looks forward to picking up paddle boarding and exploring the beautiful Bellarine peninsula with her family.
Dr Ed Finnegan, B Dent Sci (TCD),GD Clin Dent IMPL (Melb)
Ed graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2010 and completed post graduate studies in the area of Dental implants at University of Melbourne in 2019. He offers a broad range of services including children’s dentistry but has a particular interest in the rehabilitation of missing teeth and dental aesthetics.
Ed’s mission statement is to provide the best quality care, to be gentle and to always have the patient smiling. Outside of dentistry Ed spends his free time playing sports, mostly surfing. He is a playing member of The Geelong Gaels Gaelic football team and has recently enjoyed a new role as a coach of the underage "Grasshopper" teams.
Dr. Carmen Chau
Dr. Carmen Chau is a highly experienced and caring dentist who has a knack for making even the most anxious patients feel at ease.
Dr. Carmen has worked all over VIC, NSW, and SA, perfecting her craft and leaving patients with happy smiles across Australia. She has worked in both large hospitals such as the Sydney Dental Hospital and private clinics. Across the states, she has also trained under specialists of many different fields to further advance her skills in all disciplines.
Dr Carmen also loves creating a relaxed environment (she’s had many patients fall asleep in the dental chair - even during root canals!) and likes to get to know her patients better so that she can personalise their treatment options. Dr Carmen also spent time teaching at the University of Sydney, where she helped train the next generation of future dentists.
When Dr Carmen is not busy making teeth sparkle, she enjoys curling up with a good book, getting crafty with her sewing machine, and gliding on the ice with her figure skates.
